Atkins 630 or 530?

Post by DucksinOR » October 11th, 2020, 10:48 am

This is a saw I recently picked up at a garage sale for $2. The blade is 30 inches long and at the heel it is stamped 4 1/2. The etching is faint and I can't make out if it is 630 or 530. I can't find any information on either saw number. Under the number there is a really faint etching "_____g saw". All I can guess is pruning saw. The saw nuts are steel and the medallion is warranted superior, and the handle appears to be hickory. Does anyone have any info?

Thanks,

Nice looking saw!
The 4 1/2 on the heel is probably teeth per inch?
I have a couple of very similar 30" saws - except that they have cast handles.
I believe they are called docking saws.

Thanks for the info. I sharpened up the saw and it cuts well. My brother mainly uses it to process smaller limbs and trunks for firewood. I've also taken it to work to cut beams for a timber framing project. It has been used so much already it is almost ready to be sharpened again.
