Filing Damage On Atkins 334 Teeth- Not Sure What To Do

Post by CHB » March 30th, 2021, 7:15 pm

I have what I believe to be an Atkins 333 or 334. It has been filed by one of the previous owners incorrectly which has caused some damage to the teeth. The picture is a good representation of the condition of the teeth. I'm not sure how to go about filing the teeth. I have started to deepen some of the gullets and joint the teeth.
I have put some thought into converting it to a M tooth since the teeth are so damaged. Has anyone heard anything about converting a Great American toothed saw into an M toothed saw? Would there be any consequences to converting the saw to an M toothed saw. If any one has any suggestions for this saw they would be much appreciated.

That would be a pretty wide M. Either way, you've got a lot of jointing to do and will burn up a few files in the process. Is it worth your time? Plenty of GA tooth discussion here if you search for it.
