Leap day new member/race filer

Post by oreman » February 29th, 2016, 2:14 pm

Hello fellow misery whippers,
I'm a lumberjack sports competitor that is breaking into the saw filing world. I'm starting with traditional saws and if that goes well, I'll start filing race saws. I've been working with Arden Corey and Jim Taylor, but it's a long slow learning curve. I'm happy to talk about ideas to make saws faster especially in softwoods (pine, cottonwood, etc.).

Welcome to the group. I don't normally file traditional or modern competition saws but do have an idea on how to make a traditional saw cut faster. With you working with Arden Corey and Jim Taylor you should have some of the best support that is available in the world today. At least one forum member that I know of does file completion saws occasionally.

Look at the following drawing of how I believe a saws cuts and moves down trough the wood. I see a change that could make the saw cut faster, do you?
I'll write up my idea and reasoning in a separate post.
