Stuhlinger's Saw

Post by chancwj » March 20th, 2017, 12:24 pm

What pattern of saw would a German rocket scientist prefer? Apparently a perforated lance tooth.

Ernst Stuhlinger was one of the original German rocket scientists who came over from Peenemunde with Wernher von Braun in Operation Paperclip at the end of WWII.
I took a picture of the crosscut saw he purchased from Harrison Brothers Hardware store in downtown Huntsville AL, then donated back to them in 1990.

Herr Stuhlinger knew a good crosscut when he saw one.

Appears to be a 324. Note the length and model number is on the upper right hand corner of the sleeve but it is a bit fuzzy to read.
