Hi my name is brother Ben. I have a Morin saw gauge pat 1929. It looks like the c6 of that year. The filing plate slopes perpendicular to the line of saw. I dont know what tecnology this is. Or if im missing something. If anyone knows about this it would help out. I also like the ajustable plates for smaller tooth patterns. Thank you, brother Ben.

Hello Brother Ben! Welcome to the forum.
I have several Morin raker gauges, and none have any significant slope perpendicluar to the saw. My best guess as to why someone would slope a filing plate that way would be to try and keep the raker top square with the vertical centerline of the saw when working on a taper ground saw. For example, if you are working on a Simonds 513 falling saw, which has 5 gages of taper, a raker filing plate set square would result in a raker top that was square with the tapered side of the saw blade, not square with the saw centerline?
I use my Morin gauges as a pin gauge when swageing rakers, but switch to an Anderson gauge with a sloped filing plate to finish the tops.

The filing plate screws are tapped where it tapers. The jointing screws are tapped wher the plates are square to the gauge.
