Re: Disston NO. 7-11 FELLING
I procured a 6.5' rusty Felling saw awhile back and just got around to tuning it. It was coated in rust when I got it, so I had no idea what it was. I was pleased to find the Disston 7-11 etch when I cleaned it up. It had one broken tooth which I repaired and it's ready to go back to work. It has a little bit of rust pitting, but nothing that will keep it from performing well.
Here it is during the clean up:

Here's the etch, prior to tuning, which is quite different from the other 7-11 in the previous post:

Here's the finished saw with a set of Sells faller handles:

Detail of teeth/rakers/etch:

Treeline,
Nice saw and nice job on bring it back to life. However, you cheated a little on the photos. That stack of wood is cut with a chainsaw and not the saw in the photo

Thanks Jim. And I'm busted on my firewood pile!
My neighbor was walking down the road today and saw me out there sawing away on my test log with the crosscut next to that pile of chainsaw logs. His remark: "Wow! you're keeping busy! that must keep you in shape!" I had some explaining to do.
I wish I had enough time to saw all of my firewood with the crosscut. Maybe when gas reaches $5.00 a gallon!

We pay in UK GBP1.28 to GBP1.47 per LITER - that's USD 2.30 per liter - your prices seem cheap to me, but not of course to yourselves!Treeline wroteCOLON I wish I had enough time to saw all of my firewood with the crosscut. Maybe when gas reaches $5.00 a gallon!
