Disston 115

Had a couple of nice saws donated to the Idaho Trails Association. They were still in original packaging. Sent them to John Starling for a time up and they turned out wonderfully.

Re: Patent Infringement

I believe Bishop bought the old Simonds and Disston Stamps and used them to punch out his saws. The Bishop 503 was the same tooth as the Simonds 503 with different steel.

Re: Sometimes they come in a little rough

Has anyone tried to use a Dead Blow hammer when straightening/taking kinks out of a saw?

Re: Remove old ax handle?

I would heat a little epoxy at a time and then wipe it out as soon as it was liquid. You don't have to heat up the steel very much. I do it outside and we...

Re: Sometimes they come in a little rough

Starling Saw, I call these "smokejumper bends". They usually happen during cargo drops as the saws are bent around a pack and dropped from an airplane under a parachute. Sometimes when they hit the ground they roll around bending the saw in a fine curve from end to end. Do you have any method that y...
