I believe it is a very large roller bearing roller. I don't know where you'd fine one but other things like a hammer head should work the same.

Another thing to take into account is that many one man saws have an arc that varies over the length of the saw. They are not a true circular arc and a long jointer would be counter productive.

That is how I set some saws that are too hard to set normally. Hammering flat on a tooth that is fully in contact with the anvil will cause the tip of the tooth to bend/move up away from the anvil.

Even saws of the same brand can vary quite a bit in hardness. Once and awhile you will find one that is simply too hard to set and swage normally. Then there are other options.

A Bacho type pull to cut folding saw may work for smaller logs. I don't really like the ergonomics but sine people do use them.
