Re: Wanted: Simonds 513
Howdy. I have a 6" 513 that is cleaned, enough etch to ID. I started working on it so it is jointed, and the rakers are shaped, but that's as Far as I have gotten. It's strait with all teeth and rakers in tact. There is probably 90 to 95% of the width left. Perfect worker.

Re: Looking for a new crosscut
Howdy. Just figured I'd put this out there. I have two 7 ft royal chinook buckers in great shape good etchings, 1 7ft lakeside bucker in great shape good etching , and a 5 ft Simonds 520 that I'm looking to part with. I'm in Portland OR, drop me a message if your friend is interested. In my opinion ...

Re: Filing Cutters
Howdy. Just my two cents, but I have found heeling the file with light pressure at first allows me to find where I'm at on the tooth. When I see and "feel" where I want to be then I go for the meat of it. I'm still learning to control the file so I really only focus on consistency. My saws cut nicel...

Re: Electrolysis
Howdy. I am going to change the water tonight. Mainly because I want to take a look at everything. I have cleaned 5 saws in it so far, and have not noticed any electrolyte degradation. I built the tank to take a 8' saw and have one 1/2 piece of rebar on both side that run the full length. These are ...

Here are some pics of my set up. My wife(bless her heart) gave me a welder for my birth day a couple of years ago so any chance to throw some metal together!

Re: Electrolysis
Howdy. Finished the bathroom finally and so it's back to saws. First thing I did was build a tank out of 10" green sewer pipe and put end caps on, cut a 3" slit down the middle and HOT DOG! I took the advice from one of the post in another section and used 1Tbs for every 5 gal. My tank holds 45 gal ...

Does anyone know how to get An Axe to Grind video? MTDC said they are out of production. Thanks Tom H
Re: Files
I just ordered a couple more from Burton. If you give them a call they will place an order for you. He didn't know if Simonds makes them any more so maybe it's a get while the gettens good. The part # for 10" is 73-512500 and the 8" is 73-512000. Hope this helps. Tom H
Re: Files
Just a note. You can get varying lengths of the Simonds American crosscut pattern at Burton saw and supply out of Eugene Or. I really like the taper for pointing up cutters. I have some with safe corners on the narrow side for cutters, and others left as is for hogging out raker. I drink to much cof...
