sloping-plate gauge - wanted

Postby Gavin Longrain » March 16th, 2014, 1:54 pm

I am on the lookout for any sloping-plate gauge e.g Simonds 340 or 342. A kind member of this board has agreed to act as my agent to put together a parcel of various tools in US and then send those to me in UK, so if anyone has a sloping-plate gauge they'd consider selling, please PM me with your price, ideally a picture and any description and paypal details and I'll tell you where to mail it.
This sort of thing...

Edit 18 MArch - PATC Sawyer points out below those shown here are NOT sloping plate - and he's right! Any if you have sloping plate versions you don't want, PM me!

Neither of those tools have sloping plates. The 340 is deceptive because the filing plate is wedge-shaped and slides along a sloping track, but the top stays flat along that track. The two most common sloping plate gauges are the Anderson and the Atkins #15.There are probably others, and occasionally a home-made gauge pops up on Ebay.
