casting Spiders?

Postby Gavin Longrain » July 11th, 2017, 3:56 am

If you were going to get a casting expert to help you cast Spiders e.g. at Bodgers Ball in May 2018 at Weald and Downland Museum in Sussex - what metals are appropriate?

I think historically they were from iron or steel. That has far higher melting point than other metals. Would it matter if we cast in aluminium or bronze i.e. softer metals but with lower melting points and so less hassle to process?

Brass or bronze should work fine.

New ones can be bought for $12.50 USD at the Crosscut Saw Co.
