Sawing burned/charred wood

Postby PATCsawyer » February 18th, 2017, 5:16 am

Cut up a big oak deadfall that he been deeply charred in a fire, a rare event for me. It had burned from the inside like a big chimney, then fractured as it fell, leaving pieces that looked like a dugout canoe. After clearing it, my saw (shortened 513) looked like it had been polished, though it was still sharp. Anyone have experience cutting charred wood over time? Any specific effects on the saw?
